Vision of the changing world
In his career, Maurice has seen the world change drastically, especially in the field of digitization. He recognizes both the opportunities and the threats that the digital transformation entails. Cyber risks, such as data breaches and cyber attacks, are nowadays an essential part of risk management. He points to the similarities between the physical and digital world, but also emphasizes the unique challenges, such as compartmentalization in digital systems, as is also used in the "traditional world" and the complexity of liability in cyber incidents.
Maurice states that companies cannot see the digital world separately from traditional risks. For example, cyber risks have direct consequences for the liability of a company, which requires a strategic approach in which both prevention and insurance are central.
